Wine and chocolate pairing
Chocolate and wine: two of the greatest things in existence are actually quite similar in the way they are produced. Both cocoa beans and wine are fermented with the very same type of yeast. So it’s no wonder that chocolate and wine come together to form delicious magic.
Chocolate is the confectionary match to wine, but to maximize the impact on your taste buds you must know the wines that pair perfectly with your favorite chocolates.
For instance, white chocolate or chocolate-covered fruits—like chocolate orange or chocolate-covered cherries—pair perfectly with a sparkling wine or nice chardonnay. For dark or nutty chocolate, try a medium-bodied Pinot. The ripe, red fruit, lighter body and silky tannins of a Pinot or Cabernet Sauvignon is perfect with smooth milk or dark chocolate and nutty flavors.
Cacao is a magical food and amplifies the effects of nearly everything you combine it with. But to truly invigorate your palette, be sure to try some of these wonderful combinations!
